Italian masterpieces - Processing techniques from the ancient time
LIMITED EDITION

Copyright ©  2009 Ipotesi S.r.l.

We all have at home an object belonging to other times.
A time when the objects were hand-made and not produced, so that it was possible to “read” the skill of the one who had made it.
Like grandmother’s furniture, a painting, or a hand-painted vase.

We wanted to recreate such an object.

A very ancient technique

The technique of enamels is a very old one and has always been reserved for
powerful persons.
It is obtained by working special resins and adding pigments in powder form.

 - The enamel at the high flame and
 - The Chinese laquer

We have reproduced both of these techniques using modern resins with strictly non-toxic and nonallergic pigments in powder form only.

ipotesi-lavorazioni6

It is not a product of the machine, but an article manufactured by man.
It has been created for persons who like to have something UNIQUE, significant and  with a short story to tell..

ipotesi-lavorazioni4

Each piece is unique and one-off.
The decorations on the temples are made by Italian artists and according to very old techniques of the enamels at high  flame or of the Chinese  laquers.
There still  are only a very few persons left who are able to fully master these techniques.

The processing of decoration has been made on a precious galvanic base of
- gold plated 24kt or
- pure palladium
The final double coats of varnish completes the work.

The effect of tridimensionality is obtained with the ancient process of overlapped layers each with a different tone or coloration.
This is a painstaking manual work that requires very long times for its realisation.
Each layer, after its application with a pictorial technique, has to stand for a long time and then it has to be “baked” in the oven.
Only the day after it is possible to apply the next layer.
5 layers, 5 passages.
And then it is necessary to wait many weeks before the work reaches its final consistence.
